The position
Well funded and growing quickly, Huddle is looking for a talented, motivated and dedicated Systems Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team at its Bermondsey office. Reporting to the Systems Architect, this position has the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain office IT infrastructure: servers, workstations, laptops, networking, VOIP phones, Internet links.
- Provide desktop support for Huddle employees both within and outside the office.
- Centralised administration of Active Directory, DNS, anti-virus, server and workstation backups, shared mailboxes.
- Maintain and support the development infrastructure (development and test rigs, build servers, source control, databases).
- Provide developer support for environment and configuration issues.
- Develop ad-hoc and packaged database reports to support customer services, marketing and sales.
- Maintain systems for analysing performance and usage of the Huddle website.
- Assist in managing the Huddle application production environment, responding to system alerts, troubleshooting errors, deploying releases.
- Assist in architectural design to support future performance and scalability of our production system.
- Liaison with our hosting provider for issues with our production hardware.
Required experience & qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience supporting and maintaining a Microsoft Windows-based corporate IT infrastructure and/or production-scale websites.
- Some experience working alongside development and QA teams using an Agile methodology.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS and Windows server administration tools.
- Competence with Microsoft Office.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and IIS in a commercial environment.
- Excellent understanding of TCP/IP-based networking.
- Comfortable working on rack-mounted appliances, patch panels, etc.
- Some expertise with scripting languages (batch files, PowerShell, SQL, Ruby/Rake, XML, NAnt).
- Familiarity with C# and ASP.NET, Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio. Some PHP and MySQL skills will be an advantage.
